Raspberry Pi

Once you've finished configuring your Ubuntu environment, you can finally install INDI and PHD2.

Start the Terminal app and enter sudo apt-add-repository ppa:mutlaqja/ppa at the command prompt. Follow the instructions as you will be prompted to press Enter during the process. Next, enter sudo apt-add-repository ppa:pch/phd2. Follow the instructions as you will be prompted to press Enter during this process as well. Enter sudo apt update, and once the command has finished executing, enter sudo apt upgrade. Once the packages have been installed, enter sudo apt autoremove.

After installing Ubuntu for Raspberry Pi onto the microSD, insert the microSD into the Raspberry Pi and power on the Raspberry Pi. Before powering on the Raspberry Pi, connect a keyboard, mouse, and display to the Raspberry Pi.

Since we will be using Raspberry Pi as the control computer for the astronomical photography system, we will install Ubuntu on the Raspberry Pi. The Raspberry Pi is the currently available Raspberry Pi 4 or Raspberry Pi 5 with 4GB or more.

From now on, we will build an INDI system for astronomical photography using a Mac, and the example of the assumed equipment configuration is as shown in the figure below. The number of components is assumed to be taken not at home but on an expedition, so the PC is a MacBook series, but if you are taking pictures at home, a desktop PC such as a Mac mini or Mac Studio will also work.
